Electronic Beats Festival opens eighth annual springfestival for electronic art and music in Graz, Austria

An all-star line-up including The Streets, Róisín Murphy, Robyn and Roni Size/Reprazent Live will take the stage for the Electronic Beats Festival @ springeight on May 21st, creating an exciting and memorable opener to the 4-day electronic art and music festival in Graz.
The open air stage Kasematten on the Schlossberg set atop the city center’s landmark mountain will provide a picturesque view as fans enjoy a night of cutting-edge music that will combine styles ranging from electro-pop to drum’n’bass to innovative disco. Tickets are now on sale.
In the midst of working on his fourth album, UK hip-hop and garage artist Mike Skinner, a.k.a The Streets, will top the line-up bringing along his distinctive voice and beats. His success with singles such as ‘Has it Come to this?” and “Dry Your Eyes” have taken UK hip-hop to the international mainstream.
Róisín Murphy’s edgy, innovative disco sounds will no doubt have the crowds on their feet as her love of the dance floor provokes a contagious effect. After 11 years with Moloko, her recent solo endeavours have brought her to new heights within the music scene.
Similarly, Sweden native Robyn has risen through the charts with her futuristic, electro-pop style, reaching number 1 on the UK singles chart for ‘With Every Heartbeat’.
The Festival will also include the UK’s Roni Size/Reprazent Live who will be performing in Austria for the first time and will add their own special style of electro-dance and drum’n’bass to the line-up. Material from their new album ‘New Forms Vol. 2’ including re-edits of their classic hits along with new tracks will be a highlight of their set.
Also from the UK, Inner City Dwellers will round out the line-up, adding their own punk meets hip-hop style.
Launched in 2001 as ‘springone’, the springfestival is one of the most important events in Central Europe for electronic art and music.
The festival includes feature performances, workshops and various artist debuts.
springeight will be the first year that Electronic Beats opens the festival after having a strong presence during the event since 2006.
